Draping a custom bridal blouse

Draping a blouse today

Today I did a quick drape of a custom wedding blouse I am going to make tomorrow.

First, I set the mannequin to the clients measurements with strategic padding, so that it matches her measurements. I have pictures of her too, so that helps me achieve her proportions.

Then I draped out the shape I want. A close v-neck blouse, with a soft front drape and a loose fit.

I will now take the drape, with all my strategic markings, off the mannequin, flatten it out and correct and match all the seam lines and folds, cut it out in paper and then cut it out in silk chiffon for tomorrow’s stitching. It will be worn with my Anemone skirt for an entirely customised and personal bridal look!

I love making things with moulage. Such a tactile and immediate way of creating, so similar to sculpting.
