Exactly a year ago, I was deep in the midst of a thick and fast email exchange with an incredible woman all the way across the world. Throughout the process I got to explore what she wanted and dreamed for her wedding dress, and shortly after that, right before I moved across Italy in July 2018, I stitched up the dress design we had come up with together.
It was an intricate three-piece outfit, composed of a custom silk blouse, with an open back and a deep V-neck, paired with a beautiful, softly flowing blush and ivory silk skirt. The top tucked in to the skirt, and was held in place with small invisible hooks, in order to seamlessly obtain the illusion of a one-piece dress.
The soft flowy silks were beautifully contrasted with the textured vintage handwoven hemp waistband of the skirt… quite appropriate given the Hemp themed florals they put together!
During the evening, she whipped off the skirt.. and changed in to custom made silk/linen bridal pants! I’ve been planning to make a pair for my collection but what with all that moving business I’ve not had a minute yet!
The stunning stunning images from the wedding are by the talented Makenzie Grall, do check out her work, as each photo conveys an energy and a power that I think is very unique.
I really enjoyed designing and creating this dress with Jess, and getting to see these photos of the wedding is really special.
Dear Maria,
I’ve been meaning to send these photos for you to add to your portfolio, but I was a bit slow at finalizing my photos.
I wanted to say Thank You for creating my Dream Wedding Dress. It was perfect. The fit was absolutely perfect and moved like it was made of clouds. You’re ability to feel what I wanted from thousands of miles away was astonishing and the final design surpassed my expectations. You’ll also be happy to know that my “Bridal Party Pants” were a huge hit!! Everyone thought they were under the skirt the whole time since they seamlessly lined up with my top. They were so comfortable, I was really able to break out some serious dance moves in them.
If we ever find ourselves in Italy, I’ve told my husband a visit to your new studio is a must!! From the warmest part of my heart, and with deep gratitude, thank you thank you thank you for your creativity as an artist and designer!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jessica E.
