Freesia ~ Short silk wedding dress
This simple handmade wedding dress features minimalistic flowing lines. Sometimes they are the best. This kind of garment provide ease and comfort, but when carefully cut and sewn and made with fine quality materials, the subtle elegance speaks for it’s self.
I made this little tunic wedding dress using a high quality pure silk crepe de chine in a soft ivory color, double layer. Loose fitting and slightly aline, it looks nice with a belt or without, and an elegant obi belt in the same silk is included with the gown.
The slip dress design has subtle darts at the bust and thin spaghetti straps.
The main detail of this minimalistic design is the petals which I hand-cut individually out of various silks and tulle remnants (I always save these and strive to use them as much as I can to avoid waste) and hand sewed on the dress one by one.
The edges of these circle cut petals are raw and will fray just a little bit, adding texture, which contrasts with the edgy lines of the dress.
The little petals remind me of butterflies perched on the dress and clustered on one side.
In the last picture, it is worn with this scarf worn as belt.
It is the same one of the 1st photo, and it is not included with the order.
