A Hand Painted Silk Wedding Dress Created Between Italy and Wales

I created this hand painted silk wedding dress for Ayeisha after she traveled from the UK to my atelier in Italy, where we designed the entire bespoke gown together during an intimate in person fitting experience before her wedding in North Wales.
This dress carries memories far beyond the wedding day itself.
Before her wedding in North Wales, Ayeisha flew from the UK to Reggio Emilia to meet me personally at my atelier. What began as a bridal fitting became something much more emotional , almost like a small romantic escape to Italy before the wedding itself.
We spent time together exploring fabrics, silhouettes, textures, and movement, building the dress piece by piece in a deeply collaborative way. Those in person moments allowed us to create something incredibly personal, guided as much by instinct and emotion as by design.
During her appointment, she connected to different elements from several of my designs rather than just one.
She loved the raw textured bodice and dramatic corset closure from Amaryllis, the softness and fluidity of the Amsonia skirt, and the weightless movement of Agapanthus. Instead of choosing between them, we blended everything into an entirely new one of a kind gown created exclusively for her.
The bodice remains softly structured, with visible texture and an organic, almost undone feeling that contrasts beautifully with the airy movement of the skirt. The corset back creates support and definition while still feeling soft and romantic rather than rigid.
The skirt moves continuously with the body, opening into layers of silk that catch the wind with extraordinary lightness.
Hand Painted Silk Inspired by Firelight and Sunset Tones
Color became one of the most emotional elements of the entire gown.
The hem was individually hand painted in flowing shades of amber, burnt gold, pale orange, and soft fire inspired tones rising gradually through the silk like light spreading at sunset.
As the fabric moves, the painted colors emerge and disappear continuously, creating movement that almost feels alive inside the dress itself. At the waist, the delicate Daisy sash dyed in the palest warm orange tones softly ties the entire palette together.
Against the landscapes of North Wales, the warmth of the painted silk created a beautiful contrast with the surrounding mountains, stone, and wild grasslands.
After the wedding, Ayeisha sent me words I honestly will never forget:
“I wanted to thank you again for making me a dress that made me feel like me at my most beautiful.”
And later:
“I am so glad that I made the decision to come and meet you in person at your atelier and it is a memory that I will treasure forever.”
For me, this is always the most meaningful part of creating a bespoke dress.
Not transforming someone into a different person.
But helping them feel fully themselves.
I also love that the story of this dress is still continuing. They celebrated with a smaller wedding first, and she’ll wear it again next year for their larger celebration allowing the gown to gather even more memories over time.
THE BRIDAL LOOK:
features a bespoke combination of elements inspired by the Amaryllis, Amsonia, and Agapanthus designs, bringing together a textured raw bodice, dramatic corset closure, and flowing layered silk skirt with extraordinary softness and movement.
The hem of the gown was individually hand painted in shades of amber, burnt gold, pale orange, and warm sunset tones flowing organically through the silk. Finished with the delicately hand dyed Daisy sash at the waist, the entire look was custom created through an in person couture fitting experience at my atelier in Italy before the wedding celebration in North Wales.
