Jess’s hemp themed Colorado wedding

Jess’s hemp themed Colorado wedding

Exactly a year ago, I was deep in the midst of a thick and fast email exchange with an incredible woman all the way across the world. Throughout the process I got to explore what she wanted and dreamed for her wedding dress, and shortly after that, right before I moved across Italy in July 2018, I stitched up the dress design we had come up with together.

It was an intricate three-piece outfit, composed of a custom silk blouse, with an open back and a deep V-neck, paired with a beautiful, softly flowing blush and ivory silk skirt. The top tucked in to the skirt, and was held in place with small invisible hooks, in order to seamlessly obtain the illusion of a one-piece dress.

The soft flowy silks were beautifully contrasted with the textured vintage handwoven hemp waistband of the skirt – quite appropriate given the Hemp themed florals they put together!

During the evening, she whipped off the skirt and changed in to custom made silk/linen bridal pants! I’ve been planning to make a pair for my collection but what with all that moving business I’ve not had a minute yet!

The stunning stunning images from the wedding are by the talented Makenzie Grall, do check out her work, as each photo conveys an energy and a power that I think is very unique.

I really enjoyed designing and creating this dress with Jess, and getting to see these photos of the wedding is really special.
